Vestry Street

The Vestry Street residence is a 3,000 square foot duplex in TriBeCa, originally home to a garment factory. The project’s primary goal was to provide the best quality of living space possible for a young family of four by creating an atmosphere that was calming, grounding, extravagant but simple.  Our clients were committed to rebuilding the space to its greatest potential. This came in the form of creating light and luxury.

The light was created by a transfusion of natural light from above - skylights were added to every bedroom on both floors, providing simple shafts of light within the space. A transom was built into the master bathroom to bring in natural light from the living room and kitchen area. The hallway on the main floor was widened to draw light back into the space as far as possible. Luxury was in the form of a consistent, high quality material palette, and this was balanced with simplified design details so the rooms could be as open and un-fussy as possible.
